IMPELLED BY THE SPANISH PRT IN BADGHIS, THE "BERNABEU" SOCCER TROPHY OF QALA-E-NAW
CONCLUDES.

The local Club "ESTEQLAL" ("Independence"), won the final in the penalty
shift (0-3), played against their eternal local rival the "PIRUZI" ("Victory"),
after the 1-1 result, with which the regular time was concluded.
The tournament organized by the Provincial Direction of Sports of Badghis, has
had the patronage of the Real Madrid F.C., and it has been possible thanks to
the coordination of the teams of Civic-military cooperation (CIMIC) of the PRT.
In the break time of the match, the scholars of Qala-e-Naw, who attend Spanish's
classes given by members of the Spanish contingent, and also have a football
school thanks to these, carried out an exhibition with the equipment donated by
the Valencia F.C.

The inhabitants of the city of Qala-i-Naw have attended in an approximate number
of around 4000, to the final of the "BERNABEU" Soccer tournament, sponsored by
the Real Madrid F.C. and coordinated by the CIMIC team of the Spanish contingent
in Badghis. This tournament has come developing in this city from the past April
24th, organized in collaboration with the Direction of Sports of the province, a
total of 12 soccer clubs of the province took part in it. The "ESTEQLAL" (Independence)
football club and "PIRUZI" (Victory) football club played the final match of the
Tournament after defeating their previous opponents by the system of eliminatory;
both of them are eternal sport rivals in town of Qala-e-Naw.
The Tournament has had as purpose, to foment and to facilitate through the
practice of this popular sport, the coexistence between the inhabitants of the
different towns of the province of Badghis like form of overcoming its
traditional isolationism in the origin towns in whose coordination has come
working the CIMIC team of the Spanish contingent, in close cooperation with the
Provincial Direction of Sports of Badghis.
The match took place at 17:00 p.m. local time, the main authorities of the
county and a representation of the PRT was present at this final match, which
was played in the soccer arena of the capital, which was not under the best
conditions. The fans of both teams attended the match under a temperature around
40º C.
In the first part, "ESTEQLAL" (with blue equipment), took the initiative of the
game, but the bad conditions of the field and the lack of their forward final
success, didn’t allowed them to arrive the half-time with more than a nil-nil
draw.
During the break-time, the scholars of Qal-e-Naw, who participate in Spanish's
classes imparted by members of the PRT, and that at the same time they have
formed a soccer school for boys of ages corresponding to youngster and infantile
categories, they carried out an exhibition, in which they used the clothing
recently donated for them by the Valencia F.C.
After the renewal it was "PIRUZI", (with white clothing) who begun with more
decision to impose their game and fruit of the same one in the minute 54 it
opened the goal of the opposing team, in a vigorous play of the whole forward
line of the team. The time was passing and "ESTEQLAL" didn't seem to react to
try to go on, and when it seemed that the result will be favourable to the "PIRUZI",
in the last minute, the goal keeper of "ESTEQLAL", fixed a defence in his place,
ascended on the edge of the area, and sending a stopped ball to a forward of his
team, allowed him to connect a head to the bottom of the contrary goal,
establishing the final one-one tie and causing the step to the penalty shift
that determined the winner of the trophy.
Hardly illuminated, they proceeded to the launching of the penalties, where the
goal keeper of "ESTEQLAL", became the star of the team and of the match,
stopping the three contrary penalty shots, and with the effectiveness of the
pitchers of its team, it propitiated the victory of the team, causing the
explosion of players' happiness, because for the first time in thirteen years
they was imposed to their eternal rival and favourite one "PIRUZI" team.
At the finalization of the match, previous to the delivery of trophies, the
CIMIC team together with the local sport authorities gave some souvenirs donated
by the Real MADRID F.C. and finally the finalists received their trophies, being
specially received with emotion and joy on the part of the blues of "ESTEQLAL"
who took place noisy and cheerily their victory, putting the colophon to a day
of sport coexistence pointed out by the order and the sportsmanship and
facilitated by the organization of the components of the Spanish PRT who show
their zeal in opening multiple roads to facilitate the reconstruction and
coexistence among the members of the Afghan society, transmitting cooperation
values, support and coexistence.
