Statement by U.S. Ambassador George L. Argyros

The United States condemns the senseless and reprehensible massacre on Madrid commuter trains this morning. We express our deepest sympathies and strongest solidarity with the people of Madrid and of Spain.

No political pretext can justify this premeditated murder of innocent civilians. Terrorism threatens us all, and we must all work together to defeat it.

The United States reaffirms its complete support to the government and people of Spain in their fight against terrorist violence and brutality.
