Who needs a visa?

Everyone traveling to the US as Temporary workers, Students, Exchange visitors, Religious workers, Performers & Artists, Crew, and Journalist/Media representatives need visas. Nationals of many countries require visas for tourist or business trips as well. Spanish and Andorran citizens traveling for business or pleasure for visits up to 90 days may do so without a visa under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) as long as they present a round-trip ticket when they enter the US. This visa free travel applies to nationals of 27 nations: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Information regarding this program is available on the State Department WebPage.

All visitors to the US must travel on either a machine-readable passport or a machine-readable US visa. All travelers on the VWP must travel on Machine Readable Passports (Including Andorra passports). The new format of Spanish passports is Machine Readable.

All visitors to the US must travel on either a machine-readable passport or a machine-readable US visa. All travelers on the Visa Waiver Program must travel on machine-readable passports. Additionally, any passports issued after October, 26 2005 must be machine-readable and contain a digital photo in order to qualify for the Visa Waiver Program.

The new format of the Spanish passport qualifies for the Visa Waiver Program. If you are a national of a Visa Waiver Program country and you have questions about whether your passport qualifies for the Visa Waiver Program, please visit the following website: http://travel.state.gov/
