Biometric Passports

These passports feature an RFID chip, or Radio Frequency Identification chip, which can store and retrieve data using RFID tags/transporters. It is a small chip that is incorporated into the new passports of the 188 member countries of the new program. In accordance with the International Civil Aviation Organization, it provides for a more secure, faster, way of traveling with a passport that allows the customs agent to bring up, electronically, your personal data (the information that is found inside of today’s passports). An additional component is the digital facial image brought up by the RFID Chip, as well as each chip having its own identification number that has its own digital signature to ensure that copies are not fabricated.
