WORDS OF APPRECIATION
Deputy Chief of Mission, Heather M. Hodges, wishes to express her
appreciation for the show of support and solidarity during this time.
"For the past few days I have been trying to get the opportunity to say
some words of appreciation to the Spanish people for the support and solidarity
they have shown us. Over a week has past since the terrorist attacks of
September 11th, and right from the first, the national government,
autonomous and municipal governments, political parties, associations and
private citizens have called, sent letters and telegrams and come in person to
sign the condolence book at the Embassy, to show their solidarity with the pain
of the American people. I want to thank you all for these expressions of support
that are truly appreciated by both the American people and the Embassy of the
United States in Spain. Thank you very much."
